About Vanessa
I grew up in a hippie family, now not in the extremely traditional hippie way you’re thinking, however, my parents were young adults in the ’70s. Besides them sharing stories of love and peace, they were always dressed for business and you’d never know it unless you had a long conversation with them. So as a “hippie” family we were raised to question the “norm”. We were taught that just because something is said to be okay, safe, or normalized doesn’t mean it is.
This refers to so many aspects of my life but I'll just touch on a few. Before eating dairy-free and organic or reading ingredients in your skin care was “in”, my parents always made sure we understood the importance of what we eat and put on our skin.
They always encouraged us to do our own research and create our own “beliefs”. For that, I’m incredibly grateful because they taught me to open my eyes, question, and they taught me there is always more to learn. “A wise man never knows all; Only a fool knows everything.” - African proverb (a quote my father would often relay to me)
My parents bought a skincare line and developed it into some of the most incredible natural skin care I’ve ever used to this day. They also encourage us as children to be entrepreneurs and for a time, a few of my sisters and I sold their skincare line under our own private labels. Unfortunately with being young children our schooling and sports took priority. Having a natural skincare line at the time was also not an easy task. Regulations for a natural line became outrageous. Essentially, any large, wealthy company could claim “natural” on any product. But for a small, truly natural, and organic line it was nearly impossible to do anything.
Fast forward, I’m now 25 years old, I’m a wife and mother of two. I’ve tried many paths in life but I find to keep me grounded and keep my mind clear I’ve always come back to creating art. I’ve done art in many forms whether it be through drawing, dancing, painting or sewing, and crocheting. Art has always been a part of my life and will continue to be. I’ve been able to channel my desire of creating art through the permanent makeup world. Being able to help men and women gain confidence and help them love themselves again has been such an incredible experience and accomplishment. I’m so grateful for the people I meet and learn from. I’m so excited to continue creating my PMU art while expanding my business back into my skincare roots.
My family started a natural skincare line before our world was really ready to embrace it. We’ve only now begun to wake up and realize how important it is to take care of not just our physical bodies but our skin, stomach, and minds, and of course our animals and our Mother Earth.
